Public Transport Assistance - Northern Rivers NSW

Travel Training is a FREE personalised service that provides guidance and support for anyone in the community wanting to access public transport services effectively, efficiently, independently and safely.

Advice and planning skills are available to increase confidence while travelling on public transport. Assistance is provided with understanding timetables, purchasing fares and planning trips.

A travel trainer is available to accompany you whilst travelling until confidence and experience is gained.


Who is Travel Training for? 

Travel Training can be accessed by individuals or groups. You may be new to the region or do not have the knowledge, experience or information to use public transport.
You may have limited mobility, a hearing or vision impairment, a cognitive disability or simply want to know more about public transport services available.


What can Travel Training be used for? 

To access:

  • GPs, specialists, hospitals
  • Allied Health Professionals
  • Mental Health Services
  • Professional Services e.g. Centrelink, Medicare

To visit:

  • Family and friends
  • Support groups and social connections
  • Churches

To attend:

  • Activities, sporting, social and community events and celebrations
  • Appointments

To go to and from:

  • Beaches and swimming pools
  • Educational facilities e.g. TAFE, university, schools
  • Shops, Hairdressers
  • Banks, Post offices
  • Libraries
  • Airports
  • Work
